Students of our LLM in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights spent most of their summer working on their LLM papers: around 20 pages to discuss a specific issue in international humanitarian law and human rights in armed conflict.

Students of our MAS in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law worked throughout the summer on their master’s paper, in which they addressed specific transitional justice topics.

Our Strategic Adviser on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and Senior Research Fellow Dr Christophe Golay participated this summer in a series of conferences and training courses on the implementation of the UN Declaration on the rights of peasants and other people working in rural areas.

As Executive Director of the new Geneva Human Rights Platform, he will notably lead the development of this new platform to anchor it in international Geneva.

Ibrahim Salama is the Chief of the Human Rights Treaties Branch of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. He just joined the Geneva Academy as Visiting Fellow and will stay with us until end of 2019.

Our Strategic Adviser on international humanitarian, Dr Annyssa Bellal, has been invited to brief on 13 August – together with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer and the United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs Miguel de Serpa Soares – the UN Security Council on the Geneva Conventions.
